50 Cent Backs Floyd Mayweather Jr in Domestic Violence Case: Rapper Thinks … – Gather.com

0

Floyd Mayweather Jr has more on his mind than boxing these days—police are seeking the welterweight champion for questioning following a domestic abuse report made by his ex-girlfriend Josie Harris. But at least one of Mayweather’s celeb pals is firmly his corner: rapper 50 Cent has added his two cents to the allegations, saying Harris is just looking for money.

According to the LA Times, Harris, who is the mother to Mayweather Jr.’s children, called Las Vegas police to her home early Thursday morning and claimed her boxer boyfriend attacked her. Mayweather Jr had already left the scene and is now wanted for questioning. “At this point Mr. Mayweather is a suspect in a domestic battery violence case, and we would very much like to speak to him,” said police spokesman Bill Cassell.

Floyd Mayweather has stayed under the radar and thus far, has not reportedly spoken to the authorities. But 50 Cent took to Twitter to defend his one-time sparring partner and musical partner, saying his friend was the victim of his baby mama looking to make money off the boxing superstar.

“Another case of angry baby mama wanting money…She’s claiming he hit her but has no bruises,” 50 Cent tweeted to his followers, according to TMZ. “Floyd went to see his kids last night if a fighter of Floyd caliber hits u, u would be bruised.” Later, he added that he’d just talked to Mayweather Jr, who wasn’t upset, and that a comment about his girlfriend’s poor housekeeping skills caused her to start “trippin.”

Whether or not Floyd Mayweather Jr is guilty of the domestic violence charges Josie Harris has filed against him, it’s for Las Vegas police—not 50 Cent—to decide where the truth lies. Unless 50 Cent and his Twitter fans are sitting in the jury box, gaining celeb sympathy isn’t going to help much if Mayweather Jr needs to stand trial.

Boxing notes: Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa is back on HBO – NorthJersey.com

Gamboa back on HBO

Heavy-handed Cuban featherweight Yuriorkis Gamboa (18-0, 15 KOs) will attempt to continue his march toward a 2011 showdown with undefeated Puerto Rican southpaw Juan Manuel Lopez (29-0, 26 KOs) Saturday night in Las Vegas. Gamboa will headline an HBO “Boxing After Dark” doubleheader in a 12-round, 126-pound unification fight against Mexico’s Orlando Salido (34-10-2, 22 KOs, 1 NC) from Pearl Theater at the Palms Casino Resort. Lopez, meanwhile, must overcome Mexico’s Rafael Marquez (39-5, 35 KOs) in their featherweight title fight Nov. 6 in Las Vegas to build more momentum toward the Gamboa bout, a much-anticipated matchup among fight fans.

One ‘0’ must go

HBO’s co-featured fight Saturday in Las Vegas will pit unbeaten Brandon Rios (24-0, 18 KOs) against Anthony Peterson (30-0, 20 KOs) in a 12-round lightweight fight. Rios, of Oxnard, Calif., is an aggressive power puncher, while Peterson, of Memphis, Tenn., is a crafty boxer who’ll have to rely on his speed and skill to win a pivotal bout for both boxers. The Rios-Peterson fight, an WBA elimination match, will begin HBO’s broadcast at 10 p.m.

Adamek’s schedule

Tomasz Adamek (42-1, 27 KOs) was supposed to fight Nov. 6 in Atlantic City, but cuts he sustained over each eye during his 12-round victory over Michael Grant (46-4, 34 KOs) on Aug. 21 have caused a postponement. The popular Polish heavyweight contender will fight either Dec. 4 or Dec. 9 at Prudential Center in Newark, where Adamek helped draw a crowd of nearly 11,000 for the Grant fight. An opponent for Adamek, a Kearny resident, has not been solidified.

Chris Strait Breaks Down Klitschko-Peter Fight, September 11th

0

Wladimir Klitschko (54-3) hasn’t lost since 2004, and while many think that Samuel Peter is the man that will hand the Ukrainian champ his fourth career loss, Chris Strait thinks much differently. Anybody silly enough to think that Klitschko is in a position to lose a fight where he’s a -1400 favorite deserves to lose their money for reasons that Strait outlines in the boxing betting preview below:

The reason that Peter is being touted by some is because of the fight he had against Klitschko in 2005. Peter was able to get three knockdowns on Klitschko during the middle rounds, but was unable to definitively finish him off. This is perhaps one of Klitschko’s defining boxing moments, since he was barely five months removed from his last loss.

[Off topic: by the way, do you want to get a 60% bonus on your first deposit here at BetUS? Find out more exciting details HERE.]

Klitschko valiantly rallied back from being put to the mat three times in that fight and outmuscled Peter’s en route to a unanimous decision after 12 rounds. It was Peter’s first loss in a career supposedly destined for greatness. Now he has at a shot at redemption.

Some may look at this fight casually and notice that Peter is just 30-years old and evolving as a puncher. But as Strait points out, he is basically still exactly who he was. Just because Klitschko is 34-years old, it doesn’t mean he’s slowing down. No fight he’s had since Peter has gone the distance and he is now the IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight boxing champion.

As you can tell by the boxing betting odds, nobody in their right mind thinks that Klitschko is going to lose this fight. While Samuel Peter holds some value at +700, that’s only if you think he can win. He earned three knockdowns off of what Chris Strait refers to as, “a rabbit punch, one by a pushdown and one by fatigue”.

That means that Klitschko will enter this fight with the opportunity to finally silence the critics, and Peter for good. The only thing that deserves to be bet on in this fight is whether or not this fight goes the distance. That would be moral victory for Peter, but I think the champ has something else in mind.

This should teach all you boxing betting freaks a lesson: don’t trash talk a 6-foot-6, heavyweight boxing champion!
